Best of ‘Reel’ World

I have always been quite a fan of lists, especially the ones which showcase the best of something, like some of the culturally specific kind; books, music, movies, etc. I have a few of my own, like my ‘Places I would want to visit’ list… ‘Things I must do before I die’ list…’Stuff I should do today but am putting off until tomorrow’ list… 😛 Everybody has their own share of lists and I have mine too. I fear I’ve said the word ‘list’ way too much here, so much so it has started to lose all meaning. What’s a list again?

Never Mind.

So, to quench my thirst for writing random lists, I thought why not introduce a series of posts with some of MY lists (yeah, ‘series’… most of which are yet to be published; Now, you have been warned!!). The start of the series is with the list of my favorite… *drum roll please* MOVIES! 😀
Ah well, that was not much of a surprise now, was it? Anyway, talking about Movies… Films… Talkies… Cinema… whatever you might wanna call them, they’re entertaining. They can be cheesy. Intriguing. Thrilling. Funny. Moving. Exciting. They can make you think, believe, dream. Or make you wanna bash your head against a brick wall in vain attempt to erase the memory. I have watched my own share of good and bad movies. Precious hours of my life were stolen from me after watching some truly terrible ones (Delhi-6, You owe me 2hrs, 18mins!! :|). Having said that, I’d like to think I’m qualified in knowing a good film when it hits me in the face. So, Popcorn at the ready?

Here goes…

  • Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)
  • Chupke Chupke (1975)
  • Golmaal (1979)
  • Khoobsoorat (1980)
  • Chashme Buddoor (1981)
  • Pretty Woman (1990)
  • Home Alone I (1990)
  • The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
  • Andaz Apna Apna (1994)
  • Only You (1994)
  • Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995)
  • Clueless (1995)
  • Armageddon (1998)
  • Notting Hill (1999)
  • Serendipity (2001)
  • Catch Me If You Can (2002)
  • A Walk to Remember (2002)
  • Saathiya (2002)
  • The Notebook (2004)
  • The Terminal (2004)
  • The Princess Diaries I & II (2001 & 2004)
  • Mr & Mrs Smith (2005)
  • The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
  • Blood Diamond (2006)
  • No Reservations (2007)
  • The Dark Knight (2008)
  • Letters to Juliet (2010)
  • Tangled (2010)

So these are ‘some’ of my favorite movies. Or, the ones I can say I didn’t have to take a nap to get through!! 😛 I am sure I have missed out on lots of other good ones, but these are all that come to mind right now. And as you can see, most of them are quite old. Very few new movies have managed to stir something in me. Most of the old movies had such a simple story line and some really amazing acting. I wonder why movies like these aren’t made anymore!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading my list. More posts are on the way. So, keep watching this space! 🙂

Ciao! 😀
